CONNECTICUT TINT LAW 2021 (CT) | It is important to know the legal tinting guidelines in Connecticut. The laws surrounding this subject are different from state to state, but we’ve brought you as much information on it as possible including what percentage of window glass can be covered with illegal tints and reflective levels allowed by law.

Connecticut window tint law was first put into place in 1994 with CT being the 24th of 50 states to enact these laws.

What Does Vlt Mean According To Connecticut State Law

CONNECTICUT TINT LAW 2021 (CT) | The percentage of light that can be seen through your car windows is called the VLT, and each state has different legal limits. For example, in Connecticut, it’s very specific to Passenger vehicles or Multi-Purpose vehicles because they have their own criteria on what constitutes “visibility”.

A higher VLT means that more light can pass through the window tint film. A 75% tint will let 75% of it in, while only blocking a 5%. The result? Lower energy costs for your home!

Other connecticut window tint law rules and regulations:

There are a few important things that you should consider before getting window tinting in Connecticut. We recommend checking out these other factors:

  • The laws about how dark your windows can be – there may not be an option for lighter shades if the law doesn’t allow it;
  • Is my car covered by insurance? If so, then this might already cover any damage caused by breaking into cars with lightning (but only if they’re rated as “glazing” or property);
  • Am I going to have problems maintaining clear views through the film after installation because of dirty air quality at home?
