CALIFORNIA TINT LAW 2021 (CA) | California’s tint law is strict, but not impossible to follow. These tips will help you stay in compliance with California’s new regulations when it comes out next year!

In 2021 all vehicles manufactured after January 1st, 2020 must have their windows covered by at least two inches or more of an interior transparent plastic shield so they cannot be optically see-through from behind the safety glass without being darkly tinted on both sides up near front corners where direct glare may cause discomfort for other drivers who are less then optimum vision conditions due too sun reflections off car surfaces including chrome trim pieces and roofs themselves if open-air tops were used during production

California window tint law was first put into place in 1999 with California being 32nd out of 50 states to enact these regulations.

What Does Vlt Mean According To California State Law

The VLT or Visible Light Transmission for each state is a measurement that determines how much light passes through your tint film. California legal limits differ depending on whether you have a passenger car or multi-purpose vehicle in regards to visibility laws and they can change from time to dark with certain types of lighting conditions which means it’s important not only to know what kind of surface we cover but also where our operations are located near major cities so drivers will always be able to see when lights turn yellow!

Pros
A higher VISIBILITY LIGHT TRANSFERENCE means that less light is absorbed by the window tint film.

An example of this would be a 75% VLT where only 25% absorption will occur while 5%, or 1/8th, has no effect on how much visible light gets through into your car’s cabin interior – which makes the darker films more efficient at blocking out unwanted heat!

California other window tint law rules and regulations:

California has many other important things to consider when it comes to window tinting, but these include:

  • Do I have to put side mirrors on my car in California if the back window is tinted? You must use dual-side mirrors that are required by law.
  • Is it legal to tint your car’s windows in California? All of the following colors except red and blue are allowed.
  • The Window Tint Certification Rules in California are quite stringent. All film sold must be certified by the manufacturer, and drivers of vehicles with this type of protection on their windows cannot take off until they have either an address label from themselves or another driver that has one attached to his/her vehicle’s registration certificate while driving around town!
  • State law in California requires that you have a certificate or sticker from your installer and the manufacturer of any window film installed on windows inside public areas.
  • California law allows for a medical exemption of window tint, and this has been made possible since September 2017.

Tinting laws can change on a daily basis and these rules may be interpreted differently from city to county. We recommend double-checking the information we have provided with your local DMV or law enforcement agencies for accuracy as it pertains specifically to window tinting in California. It is important that you contact us if there are any inaccuracies so they will get fixed immediately thanks!

California Window Tint Medical Exemption References

California State Law allows window tint medical exemptions to be given if the person who owns it has a letter from their physician stating that they should have darker shades because of health reasons. To file for this type in California you must provide valid documentation proving how much exposure is too intense on certain diseases or disorders, but once approved there are no other requirements needed besides having an official signature-ready certification note taped next time anyone drives off into traffic while wearing one!

If you have window tint on the side windows in the front seat or on your windshield, it’s important for drivers to always carry their physical medical exemption certificate.

Is there a law that states the window tint installed according to these medical exemptions shall not be used during darkness? It seems as though your car may become useless or illegal at night. The California Window Tint Medical Exemption Rules state only clear, colorless, and transparent film can be applied on top of a windshield and front windows- how do you know if it’s been done correctly without checking first!?
